About Sara Bushway

Sara Bushway’s debut fiction novel is “Honey Beaumont: A Hero is Hard,” a dystopian fantasy full of magic, machines, and adventure in the old west. Being a hero is harder than Honey could have ever imagined, but at least he has his friends by his side to help him save the day.

Sara’s first poem was published in the anthology “A Celebration of Young Poets” when she was sixteen. Since then, she has written many more poems and several contest-winning short stories, some of which have been published in a collection called “Things As They Seem.” Sara has also been published in the scholarly gaming journal, The Journal of Gaming and Virtual Worlds.

With the recent release of her debut novel by 5310 Publishing, Sara looks forward to producing her next two novels in progress while working on getting her Master of Clinical Psychology and working as a Behavioural Health Specialist. Her current works in progress are a continuation and expansion on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and a story about a teenaged boy trying to navigate the meat-grinder known as high school who is possessed by a demon.

Sara is improving her community

"Healing the world one person at a time and teaching them things like self-love and empathy. It also heals me to work with clients who are really trying to better and move forward."

Sara works as a substance abuse rehab counsellor at the Gateway Foundation.

Sara' advice for writers

Sara hopes that her writing can inspire other non-traditional writers to come forward and bring something new to the table. New perspectives might bring new ideas into the light and spring forth new wisdom for the readers out there.

"I hope my writing inspires someone who wonders if their story is too weird or if the process is too difficult [to publish their book] to simply try."

What's next for Sara

Sara's plans include continuing her education so that she can run a private practice using Dungeons & Dragons as a means to treat various types of anxiety, which she believes is one of the major issues many people are facing in the world today.
